Replacement of Intermediate Lift Pumps No. 1 & 2 - Detroit Wastewater Treatment Plant

In order to insure enhanced level of reliability to the Secondary Treatment Process, DWSD had proposed to replace the existing Intermediate Pumping Units No. 1 and No. 2, with new Pumps, Motors and state-of-art Variable Frequency Drives for a total construction cost of approximately $9.0 Million.
The major improvements include the following:
• Installation of Two (2) 350 MGD Vertical
Propeller Pumps.
• Installation of Two (2) 2500 HP Brushless
Synchronous Motors at 4160V service level.
• Installation of Two (2) 2500 HP, 4160V, 24
Pulse Width Modulated Variable Frequency
Drives.
• One (1) new Electrical Building to house
the VFD System.
• PLC based Process Control System to control
and monitor the Pumping Units and the VFD
System.
