The Replacement of Three Variable Frequency Drives at the Detroit WWTP's Intermediate Lift Pump Station #2
DWSD hired METCO along with Motor City Electric (JV), to replace the existing drives for their Intermediate Lift Pumps 3, 4 & 7. The existing system was completely destroyed due to fire breakout at the VFD room resulting in the outage of all three pumps. METCO was requested to Design and Build replacement drives along with all associated Electrical and I&C systems so that pumps can be operational within 4-5 months.
METCO designed a complete new system consisting of three (3) new medium voltage VFD's, with new remote control panels, switchgears and new ventilation system.
METCO was also responsible for proper installations of these drive systems along with start-up and testing of these systems. All three pumps were successfully tested with new system within 20 weeks and within the scheduled time and budget.
