River East Infrastructure Improvements – City of Detroit
METCO, in association with BEI Associates and SOM Architects was hired by General Motors/Hines Properties to prepare design documents for infrastructure improvements on riverfront properties east of Renaissance Center within the City of Detroit.
The scope of METCO’s responsibility includes design of relocation and rehabilitation of utilities within the project area. The design and specification standards of MDOT were to be followed in the preparation of these documents.
The utility relocation includes storm sewers of various sizes ranging between 66” – 12” and sanitary sewers of 15” –12” in size. Segmented design packages were prepared for phased construction to facilitate minimal interruption to the existing traffic.
The involvement of METCO during construction phase includes the following:
• Providing clarifications to the Contractor
• Review of Contractors Request for Change

• Prepare necessary documents for the Change
Order
The construction of this project was completed in year 2004.
