Jayne-Lasky - Family Fun Center
|
 |
City of Detroit Mayor presented in his “State of City” address, his vision to build two “Family Fun Centers’ that provide recreation facilities to the children in the City of Detroit neighborhoods.
Detroit Parks and Recreation Department hired METCO to develop a program that would fulfill the goals and vision of the City. METCO had identified numerous features that could be built to accommodate the interests of the children.
METCO in coordination with the Department had prioritized and developed a final list of features, which are unique, children friendly and consistent with the present trend and tastes of the children.
Due to limited fund availability, the program was decided to be implemented in phases with the first phase being “Jayne-Lasky Family Fun Center” in the east side neighborhood of the City of Detroit.
The final features of this Facility consist of:
• 18 Hole Disk Golf Course
• 18 Hole Putt Putt Golf Course
• Rock Climbing Wall
• Remote Controlled Care Race Track – Dirt
and Paved
• 9 Stall Batting Cage
• Basketball Courts
• 2 Tennis Courts
• Soccer Field
Some of the above features such as Remote Car (RC) Race Track and Rock Climbing Wall are the first of their kind under Public Sector Facilities in the State of Michigan.
The entire facility was conceived and constructed in a record time frame of seven (7) months.
METCO’s association with this Project, responsible as Program Manager and the Prime Architect/Designer for concept-implementation of this Facility.
