Critical System Improvements at Northeast Water Treatment Plant

DWSD decided to implement some of the critical improvements relating to the High Lift and Low Lift Pumping Systems and other auxiliary systems at Northeast Water Treatment Plant. In order to accomplish expeditious execution of these improvements, DWSD has selected a Design-Build project delivery system. METCO was functioning as "Engineer on Record" for the Design-Build Team and was responsible for all the design elements and construction administration including QA/QC activities, startup and equipment system testing supervision. METCO, also designed the I&C System for these upgrades including DWSD SCADA System interfacing. During the construction of these improvements, METCO also developed a comprehensive flow isolation plan. The work elements of these improvements include: High Lift Pumping System - Replace 8X42" Header Isolation Valves - Replace 12X24" Pump Discharge Cone Valves - New Electro-Hydraulic Actuators for the cone valve operation to replace the existing hydraulic operators - New Electric Actuators for 24 " Isolation Gate Valves - Refurbish the existing High Lift Pump #15 and Motor Low Lift Pumping System - Replace/Refurbish existing 6X30" Pump Discharge Gate Valves and new Electric Valve Operators - Header Improvements - Replace existing Header Control Cone Valves and new Electric Valve Operators - Repair/Replace the header sections determined to be structurally unsafe Header Improvements - Replace existing Header Control Cone Valves and new Electric Valve Operators - Repair/Replace the header sections determined to be structurally unsafe Auxiliary System - Replace existing Dehumidification System - Replace existing Vacuum Priming System with associated piping - Asbestos and Lead Paint Abatement from existing building elements
