Hazel Storage Basin (CSO Racks 10 & 11)

The City of Akron, Ohio, in order to comply with its Consent Decree (CD) with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA), plans to design and construct a 4.5 MG CSO storage basin for Racks 10 and 11. Professional services will entail preparation of an Advanced Facilities Plan, final design services, bidding services, and engineering services during construction. The 4.5 MG Hazel Storage Basin will facilitate the zero-overflow requirement for the adjusted 1994 typical year storm as well as improve capacity in the Little Cuyahoga Interceptor to optimize future upstream conveyance. An evaluation of alternate site locations will be required as part of the Advanced Facilities Plan (AFP). The Hazel Storage Basin location will have a significant influence on how flow is conveyed between the- racks and basin. The AFP will entail a hydraulic study in conjunction with the basin siting investigation to ascertain the most effective means of flow conveyance from the flow control structures to the basin.
