METCO was engaged by South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to provide Engineering Services to design and develop construction documents for the following upgrade/improvements to their Pump Station S-331: - Pre-procure new 4X 255 HP new environmentally compliant electronically controlled diesel engines to replace the existing for all three (3) main pumps and one spare. - Refurbish of the existing right-angle speed reducers on all three (3) main pumps. - Convert the existing stuffing box with a split-face mechanical seal arrangement on all three (3) main pumps. - Replace the existing engine control panels with new panels. - Design to upgrade the existing power and control wiring for all pumps to comply with the Code and District requirements. - Design new Station Control Panel and integrate into the Regional Command and Control Center system for remote operation of the pumps. The new improvements were intended to improve the ability to control and monitor the pump station from the remote location with enhanced reliability and operational flexibility. As part of Quality Control and Assurance of this Project, Dr. Check QA/QC procedures was used to resolve the review comments at different stages of design document. In addition, the DCM-7 estimation guidelines of SFWMD was used in developing the probable opinion of construction cost estimate (OPCC).
