Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD) retained the services of METCO to update the GIS database and conduct a water modeling analysis to identify improvements to meet fire flow requirements of Miami Water Distribution Network by using InfoWater Software. The existing hydraulic model provided by MDWASD has 37,180 fire hydrants and identified fire flow deficiencies in approximately 1,002 hydrants. Fire flow analysis must be established under residual pressure requirements for the maximum day demand. Further, METCO was responsible for updating the existing model and GIS to represent the As-Built drawings and donation plans, select the best fire flow improvement alternative and costing of proposed fire flow improvement. The major tasks under this Contract include: - Update the existing GIS database by incorporating the recently completed Projects and the donation plans - Update the fire flow analysis to determine the new fire flow requirements to meet the code requirements Fire Flow Improvements - Update Hydraulic Model in ÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂInfoWaterÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂ platform - Assigned Fire flow demand at individual fire hydrant based on land used zones - Analyzed fire flow rates for entire network and individual Atlas - Identified Deficient Fire Hydrants based on different types of land uses - Develop hydraulic modeling scenarios for each alternative identified - Modeling simulation to determine the improvements for enhanced fire requirements - Develop preliminary design of selected improvements and OPCC METCO successfully completed the Project and delivered the updated Hydraulic Model and a comprehensive Engineering Report.
